5 Ideas for Natural & Organic Skincare Gifts

You can make your own organic and natural skincare gift sets to give as gifts or sell. Many of our students, graduates and others have started their own beauty businesses after experimenting with natural cosmetic formulations.

Natural cosmetics have become mainstream, and consumers want to give their loved ones organic skincare products. They know that they will be able to educate them about the benefits of botanicals. It is no surprise that students and graduates are taking advantage of the market opportunities. The global organic and natural cosmetics market size is projected to reach US$15,370 million by 2026.

We asked our graduates and students to share their opinions on the best products to give, sell and make as natural beauty gift sets. We’ve rounded up some of the best ideas for organic and natural skincare gift sets, and provided links to simple formulations that you can use to create your own personalised beauty gifts.

In the spirit of helping other beauty entrepreneurs and in order to give back, we asked those who were interviewed for their advice on how to price, package, and promote natural and/or organic skincare gifts.

What is the best organic, natural skincare gift?

Body and hand care products are more popular than facial skincare, such as creams and serums. Body care products like soaps, scrubs and lotions are not as tailored to your specific skin needs. What woman wouldn’t love a gift set that includes body lotions and bath oils, as well as balms. These are more likely to be good gifts and suitable for all age groups.

As one of the founders of our company says, “The best cosmetics gift is one that you know your recipient will use and enjoy”. Consider what kind of products and scents your recipient will enjoy. You may find that they prefer heavier lotions to body butters, or love or hate floral scents.

Take the time to read through our Step by Step Guide to Making Natural Skincare Products, which contains a wealth of useful information.

Look at our suggested formulations. Feel free to change colours, scents or oils and butters to make your own gifts. The foundation formulas are easy to create and can be tailored with essential oils and different additives. Some formulations can include dried botanicals like rose buds or lavender seed.

1. Body Butters, Balms and Lotions

All of these products can be easily made and packaged into a natural gift set. You can learn how to make body butters if you’re a beginner. Check out our post on How to Make a Body Butter. Try out these ideas. The balm on a stick would make a great gift, and is easy to use. It’s also perfect to keep in your handbag.

2. Hand Cream and Nail Care

It is always appreciated when we run out and are in need of hand cream. The product is easy to give as a gift, although it can be a bit tricky to get into tubes. It can also be decanted in decorative jars with lids and wrapped up as a hand cream night cream instead of a bag version. Balms work well because they are easy to pot and are also portable.

3. Masques, Scrubs & Polishes.

These products are easy to make and are a great gift. They are anhydrous, which means they only contain oils and butters.

We like that these products can be colorful, as you can experiment with different scrub particles or natural colours derived from fruits.

4. Face & Body Oils

Natural body and face oils are the easiest of our natural beauty gifts to make. It is not difficult to make, just mix your oils. It is up to you which oils you choose. Some botanical oils have a nutty or earthy scent, while others have no smell at all.

You may find that selecting the best oils to use for your product can take some time. Some oils absorb quickly, while others have a heavier feel and a lighter texture.

5. Lip Balms & Lip Care.

They are inexpensive and easy to make. These are essential cosmetics for winter gift-giving. Lip balms require a higher percentage of natural waxes than body balms in order to prevent them from melting or breaking when used.

Sell Natural Beauty Gifts

Some of our graduates and students share their advice behind the scenes on how to package and promote natural cosmetic gifts.

Gift sets are good for independent beauty businesses.

Gift collections are a great way to get customers excited about new products and to encourage them to buy certain items. They can also be used to reduce the stock of discontinued lines or to market specific products.

Some beauty entrepreneurs we spoke to offer free gift sets, special trial sizes or travel-sized products when a customer spends more than a certain amount. Gift collections can be used to bundle products that are more expensive individually. This is a way for consumers and beauty founders to encourage them to purchase more.

Some, however, said that they advertise these offers despite the fact they will lose money. The sole purpose of these offers is to promote new products or to attract new customers.
